I have the privilege of working for Ayahuasca which means that I also get the chance to be coached by her in the medicine space often.  Every time I drink she goes through a check list with me of things to do, remember and practice. I have found these practices to be helpful both on the mat and in life. Recently, Aya suggested that I share them with you. These are in no particular order and often you will find yourself circling back through them several times and in a different order depending upon what you are working through. Hope they help you as much as they continue to help me. I will share them with you as Aya speak to me.

1.Relax… All is well… Remember that You are Loved.
2. Breathe… Breathing is the process of accepting life as a flow of receiving and releasing, filling and emptying. When you allow the breath to flow then you allow yourself to flow.  Breathing is saying yes to life.
3. Shhhhh… Practice quieting your mind. You don’t need to fill every moment with chatter and questions. That internal narrator is keeping you from Being. You think that you are your thoughts. You are not your thoughts. Your thoughts keep you stuck in the illusion of thinking you can know something. You cannot know anything of any real consequence with your thoughts. You can have opinions but can’t know until you experience it. So many questions! Asking and seeking and not listening. If you will listen the answers are here. Allow your mind to quiet. Allow the knowing to well up from deep within. Allow the present to unfold and just Be.
4. Let It In… Let the Medicine in. Let the music in. Let Love in. Let Healing in. Let Ease in. Let Alignment in. Let Safety in. Let Peace in. Allow your resistance to soften.  You ask for these things and then you resist them when they are offered. You want them and distrust them. Make room inside yourself and Let It In.
5. Let It Go…All of it. ALL OF IT. What you have judged as bad, as good, as frightening, as joyful. Let the things you hate go and the things you love go. Let your ideas and identities and truths and opinions and wounds and trauma and talents and gifts – let them all go. Yes, even the little things that you don’t think matter. All of it. Let it go.
6. Be Still…stop your fussing and fidgeting. The discomfort, the nausea, the heat and cold, the bodily sensations are distractions that keep you from sinking into the deep stillness that is waiting for you. If you have an itch scratch it and return to stillness. Become discerning of when the body is telling you valuable information and when it is being used by your mind as a distraction because you are afraid to experience the stillness that awaits you.
7. Trust the Process. The healing journey is not a straight path. It has many winding trails and loops and will often go backwards before heading forward once again. This path is not about “getting over” or “sitting in” but instead about working through so that you can move forward into more and more of what you have always been and will always be. There is no way but through. Stop looking for the easy answer, the quick fix, the magic pill, the way around. The healing journey is a simple one and not an easy one. So lean in. Find your courage. You don’t need to know 5 steps ahead. You just need the next one and Spirit will show it to you. Have faith. Take the step and the next will appear. That is how a journey is traveled. One step at a time.
Happy Adventures!
